Amelanchier alnifolia is a shrub native to North America and grows all over the Rocky Mountains. It bears a berry-like fruit called the Saskatoon Berry in Canada, or the Serviceberry in America (just ask your grandma). This vintage berry has a distinctive flavor (a bit like a blueberry with a hint of almond) and is chock full of iron and antioxidants. Can’t make it up to the Northland Lodge this year?
